As medicine advances, we will eventually have a cure for all diseases - including aging. If that day was today and you could opt for eternal, physical life on Earth would you do it? Or, are you willing to risk oblivion to see what comes next?
I wouldnt say a cure for all diseases is a forgone conclusion. In fact our medical advancements might end up exterminating us as a species. For sure humanity is at a precipice in many regards, health being right up there. We are breeding diseases at an absolutely un-paralleled rate in human history.. rather an un-comparable rate... and our greatest victories over disease have been thwarted in a blink of an eye.
For the human race to make a leap forward scientifically like the one we made in the modern age, I would say that our lifespans need to be dramatically increased first and diseases for the most part would need to be conquered.
I dont believe I would commit suicide if I was living a long time and didnt see any way for me to die in the forseeable future. Thats not to say I would keep myself alive at all costs, just to say I wouldnt actively seek to end my life if faced with this situation.
